Cloud Deployment Models

Majorly there exists 3 types of cloud deployment models –

  • Public Cloud
  • Private Cloud
  • Hybrid Cloud

Public Cloud

As the the name suggests its ‘Public’, available publicly via internet. Here many resources like processing unit, memory element, servers, software are shared among the users/clients/costumers. It is a cost efficient cloud deployment model. For example, when we go to a temple, there can be 2 routes one is general and other is VIP route. So here pubic cloud can be seen as general route. The degree of security and privacy is low in public cloud. Can be used in non-critical situations where security and privacy is not a major concern plus cost efficiency is required.

Private Cloud

As the name suggests its ‘Private’. In private cloud dedicated recourses are provided by provider to clients/customers, means resources like processing unit, memory unit, servers are provided to clients exclusively. Private cloud is not as cost efficient as compared to public cloud. In above mentioned Temple example, Private cloud is a VIP route. There exists a high degree of security and privacy in private cloud. Can be used in critical situations where security and privacy is major concern. High degree of customization is available in private cloud.

Hybrid Cloud

Now both Public and Private cloud have there own pros and cons. Hybrid Cloud try to combine the the pros/advantages of both public and private cloud. Hybrid clouds are much flexible and can be used in situations where the client has a mixed requirements(public plus private).
